The Transit Clerk performs transportation and paratransit (Americans with Disabilities Act/Van Services) scheduling, routing, and dispatching duties. This role involves operating a variety of communication equipment, including two-way radios, telephones, computer mobile dispatch terminals, and scheduling systems. The position is responsible for creating, maintaining, and monitoring computerized driver manifests and schedules, responding to requests for service, and providing accurate, timely information to passengers and drivers.
Provide transportation and paratransit dispatching and routing services to students, employees, and individuals with disabilities on a daily basis.
Dispatch fixed-route, charter, shift-change, and ADA vehicles as required.
Assist in the planning and scheduling of transportation routes, including the assigning and reassigning of drivers and vehicles.
Consistently monitor bus routes to ensure schedule integrity and that community needs are met.
Monitor bus route tracking systems and two-way radios daily for scheduling or operational issues.
Work with on-site management to address and resolve operational situations as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
Minimum of one year of experience in transportation, dispatching, or a related field.
Strong operational planning, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of ADA transportation service requirements.
