Payroll Specialist-AW3954

Occupational Summary:
 
Perform a variety of clerical front office payroll duties involved in the preparation and processing of the multiple payrolls to ensure timely and accurate delivery of pay.
 
 Duties - Work Performed:
 

  • Provide quality customer service to internal and external inquiries.  Record all calls and resolutions in a customer service database for the purposes of research, time management and quality assurance.
  • Log all incoming checks and prepare receipts; distribute to the appropriate Payroll Staff member.  Open, log, and sort timecards to ensure adequate batches for the time input.  Open and stamp all incoming internal and US mail.  Sort Payroll forms from Benefits, HRIC and other departments and distribute to proper location.
  • Distribute mail internally (at least twice a day), as well as to Human Resources and Internal Audit.  Log and distributes faxes, off-cycle checks, accounts payable checks. 
  • Coordinate corrective action on incomplete or incorrect time cards and other paper forms with departmental payroll personnel.
  • Answer inquiries from individuals concerning payroll data.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires knowledge of basic mathematical and clerical principles generally acquired through a high school education.

Experience:

Work generally requires 2 years of experience in a related position to acquire a general knowledge of the accepted clerical accounting practices involved in verifying, preparing and processing of payrolls; or satisfactory completion of training as a Payroll Clerk Trainee.
