Job Description:

Provide exceptional customer service to students and other customers in the Textbook Store; answer questions regarding the status of online orders,arrival of books, status of special orders, etcl ring up purchases and rental transactions and process appropriate tender in the registerl orovide accurate information regarding return policy, due dates for rental returns, fees, etc. 

Work Performed:

  • Record customer purchases on a point-of-sale computer cash register; accept payment by cash, check or charge card ensuring verification of proper identification according to established procedures; place merchandise and receipt in bag for customer.
  • Relieve regular sales staff as requested; greet customers and assist them in making purchase decisions; assist in physical inventory, restocking, display and price marking of merchandise as needed.
  • Interface with customers at the service desk to handle customer complaints, returns and exchanges in accordance with established store policy.
  • Maintain assigned area in clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires knowledge of basic mathematical principles to maintain proper inventory counts and to handle sales transactions, generally acquired through a partial high school education.

 Experience:

Work generally requires six months of retail store experience including cash register operation experience.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
